Week 7: Gentleness

Day 1
   Verse - Colossians 3:12-13
   Reflection - When we talk to others we must be gentle with our words. Can you think of a time you were hurtful with your words? How could you change your words to make them more gentle?
Fruit - Write something you can say to make your words gentle. (ex. please, may I, would you, thank you)

Day 2
   Verse - Colossians 3:12-13
   Reflection - Sometimes things we do can hurt others. What is something you've done that hurt someone?
Fruit - How can you act more gently towards others? (ex. hug, share, pat on back)

Day 3
   Verse - 2 Timothy 2:23-24
   Reflection - When we disagree with someone, we shouldn't argue with them just to argue. Once we've said what we think, we should change the subject, talk about something else we can agree on.
Fruit - Think of something fun you can talk about without arguing.

Day 4
   Verse - 2 Timothy 2:23-24
   Reflection - Have you seen someone doing something wrong? Did you want to tell them how to do the right thing instead? When we want to teach someone to do the right thing we must do so gently. If your friend hits someone, you shouldn't correct him by hitting him, but by telling him hitting isn't nice.
Fruit - Write a kind word to remind you to teach people gently.

Day 5
   Verse - Philippians 4:5
   Reflection - How would you hold a baby? (Carefully, with both hands, rocking, patting) God wants us to treat all people as gently as we would a baby. How can you treat your friends gently?
Fruit - Who will you show gentleness to this week?

Day 6
    Verse - Philippians 4:5
   Reflection - God created all animals on land and creatures of the sea. He wants us to respect animals and treat them gently. He doesn't want us to hurt or scare them for no reason.
Fruit - What animal can you treat gently?



Day 7
   Verse - Philippians 4:5
   Reflection - God created mountains and rivers, trees and plants, all of nature. He wants us to protect it and love it. We should only cut down trees we need to use or pick food we're going to eat. And we should never throw our trash on the ground because that makes God's Earth dirty.
Fruit - What part of nature will you care for?
